There are many ways to increase your emergency and disaster preparedness by learning new safety practices, first aid skills, and other capabilities.  The City of Mill Valley recommends that at least one adult in every Mill Valley household attend a household preparedness class - the GetReadyMarin classes are great - to become familiarized and aware of how to begin to safeguard their home and residents.

The American Red Cross teaches a number of valuable courses, including First Aid and Household Disaster Preparedness.

If you have an interest in being prepared to help your community in time of need as a volunteer Disaster Service Worker - with the necessary training to provide light search and rescue, basic disaster first aid, and other first responder assistance to your neighbors and community - and to do so safely - the City of Mill Valley encourages you to complete the GetReady Course at a minimum.
