1. Power was out for dozens of Mill Valley residents during a recent winter for over 7 DAYS (think cold dark house, rotting food...)

  2. Mill Valley experiences downed power lines almost EVERY WINTER

  3. Windstorms in Mill Valley have blown over HUGE trees in our town almost EVERY WINTER - redwood trees, oak trees, eucalyptus trees - they all fall down, and they take power lines with them!

  4. Ground saturated after weeks of rain led to a mudslide on Bolsa Avenue that killed one Mill Valley resident.

  5. Saturated ground on Marion Avenue resulted in slumping earth that caused the destruction of a home there in the 1990’s.

It rains, hard, for days on end.  The wind blows, trees fall, power goes out, the ground saturates and slides, flood waters rise.....

We live in an area prone to severe winter storms rolling in from the Pacific.  These storms can and do cause great damage to our community, and we must do our best to mitigate their impact when possible,  and to be prepared to survive them when they are severe.

Saturated ground and high winds knocked over this oak tree on Lovell Avenue pulling power lines with it.  Fortunately it missed the house and sleeping residents by mere feet.
